Born as Jessica “Jinx” Godfrey, she studied at Coventry University and developed an interest in filmmaking and post-production. She began her career in the mid-1990s as an assistant editor before progressing to become one of the industry's most sought-after editors.

Godfrey has worked across a wide range of genres, including documentaries, biographical dramas, and television series. She is known for her long-standing collaboration with director James Marsh on several acclaimed projects.
