Biography
J. Michael Straczynski, born 17 July 1954 in Paterson, New Jersey, is an American screenwriter, television producer, director, journalist, and comic-book writer. He began his career as a journalist before moving into television writing and production.
Straczynski is best known as the creator of the science-fiction series Babylon 5 (1993–1998). He also created Crusade and Jeremiah and served as the primary writer and executive producer of Babylon 5.
He co-created the Netflix science-fiction drama Sense8 (2015–2018) with Lana and Lilly Wachowski and served as its executive producer and showrunner.
His film credits include Changeling (2008), Ninja Assassin (2009), Thor (2011), Underworld: Awakening (2012), and World War Z (2013). Changeling earned him a BAFTA nomination for Best Screenplay.
As a comic-book writer, Straczynski has worked on major titles including The Amazing Spider-Man, Thor, Fantastic Four, and Superman: Earth One. His creator-owned works include Rising Stars, Midnight Nation, and The Resistance.
