Joel de la Fuente was born on April 21, 1969, in New Hartford, New York, and grew up in nearby Albany. Of Filipino descent, he brings a rich cultural heritage to his craft. De la Fuente studied at Brown University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre Arts.
