Biography
Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson is an Icelandic actor, born on 26 February 1980 in Hafnarfjörður, Iceland. He graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Iceland Academy of the Arts in 2005 and has worked in Icelandic theatre, film, and television as well as international productions.
He gained international attention with roles in Game of Thrones as Lem Lemoncloak and The Innocents (2018), where he played Steinar. He also appeared in Atomic Blonde (2017), Alpha (2018), The Sisters Brothers (2018), and Bloodshot (2020).
Jóhannesson became particularly well known for playing Olaf Haraldsson in Netflix's Vikings: Valhalla (2022–2024). His later television credits include Succession, The Witcher, and Those About to Die.
His film work also includes Captain America: Brave New World (2025), in which he played Copperhead. His upcoming projects include Masters of the Universe, in which he is credited as Malcolm/Fisto.
He is fluent in Icelandic, Faroese, Danish, and English, and has also had an extensive career in Icelandic musical theatre.
