Biography

John Hamburg is an American screenwriter, film director, and producer best known for his work in comedy films. Born on May 26, 1970, in Manhattan, New York, he developed an interest in filmmaking at a young age and began creating short films while still in school. He later earned a history degree from Brown University and studied filmmaking at the Tisch School of the Arts.

 

 

Hamburg's early breakthrough came with his short film Tick (1996), which was screened at the Sundance Film Festival. He followed this success by writing and directing the independent comedy Safe Men (1998).

 

 

His career gained major momentum when he co-wrote the hit comedy films Meet the Parents and Zoolander. These projects established him as one of Hollywood's leading comedy writers. He later wrote and directed Along Came Polly, starring Ben Stiller and Jennifer Aniston.

 

 

In 2009, Hamburg wrote, directed, and produced the acclaimed comedy I Love You, Man. He continued his success by contributing to sequels such as Meet the Fockers, Little Fockers, and Zoolander 2. He also directed and co-wrote Why Him? and later wrote and directed Me Time.
