John Lesher

Biography

John Lesher is an American film producer known for his work on critically acclaimed, award-winning films that combine strong storytelling with artistic ambition. Born on October 12, 1966, Lesher developed an early interest in cinema and later became deeply involved in the creative and business sides of the film industry.

Before transitioning into producing, Lesher built a successful career as a talent agent. He worked at leading agencies, including Endeavor, where he represented prominent filmmakers and actors. This experience gave him a strong understanding of filmmaking from both creative and commercial perspectives, which later shaped his approach as a producer.

Lesher moved into film production in the early 2010s and quickly established himself as a major force in independent and prestige cinema. He produced Birdman (2014), which won the Academy Award for Best Picture, and followed it with Spotlight (2015), another Best Picture winner that was praised for its investigative storytelling and social impact.

His producing credits also include films such as End of Watch, Fury, Black Mass, and Hostiles, often collaborating with director Scott Cooper.
