Jonah Hill Feldstein, professionally known as Jonah Hill, is an American actor, screenwriter, producer, and director born on December 20, 1983, in Los Angeles, California. Raised in a creative family—his mother a costume designer and stylist, and his father an entertainment industry accountant—Hill was exposed to the film and music world early on. His younger sister, Beanie Feldstein, is also an actress. Jonah Hill pursued his education at several institutions, including The New School in New York City, where he developed a passion for writing and performing.
Career
Jonah Hill began his career in comedy, breaking into Hollywood with supporting roles in early 2000s films. His breakout came with his performance in the 2007 coming-of-age comedy Superbad, in which he played Seth, a foul-mouthed but earnest high school student. The film’s massive success catapulted him into the spotlight and established him as one of the most promising comedic actors of his generation.
Following Superbad, Hill appeared in a series of successful comedic,s including Knocked Up, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, and Get Him to the Greek. However, he quickly proved his range extended beyond comedy. In 2011, he took on a more dramatic role in Moneyball, portraying Peter Brand opposite Brad Pitt. His performance earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor.
