Jonathan Snipes
Biography
Jonathan Snipes is an American composer, sound designer, and musician based in Los Angeles. Born on 25 November 1980, he is known for creating music and sound for film, television, and theatre. He also teaches sound design at UCLA and is a member of the experimental hip-hop group clipping.
Snipes has worked on a wide range of film and television projects, including Snakes on a Plane (2006), Blindspotting (2018), Murder Bury Win (2020), A Glitch in the Matrix (2021), and Netflix's House of Ninjas (2024). His work often combines electronic music, field recordings, experimental sound, and unconventional textures.
He has also composed soundtracks for Starry Eyes, The Nightmare, Trespassers, Mope, Hauntology, and UnBroken. Beyond film scoring, Snipes has built a career in theatre sound design and music, establishing himself as a versatile figure in contemporary experimental music and screen sound.
