Biography

Jonita Doda (also known as Juanita Doda) is an Indian actress, filmmaker, and entrepreneur known for her work in regional and Hindi cinema, as well as in the fashion industry. She is the co-founder of Chandigarh Fashion Week and the neon signage brand Neonwale, reflecting her involvement beyond films into creative entrepreneurship.

 

 

Early Life

Jonita Doda was born in Chandigarh, India, to Inderjit Doda and Jaswinder Doda. She was raised in a culturally diverse household that blended Hindu and Sikh traditions, which played a role in shaping her artistic outlook and values.

 

 

Career

Doda began her acting journey while still in senior school with the romantic comedy Dil Bechara Pyar Ka Maara. After completing her MBA, she chose to pursue acting full-time and made her entry into South Indian cinema with Minchu (2010), a remake of the Tamil film Thimiru. The same year, she appeared in Punjabi cinema with Chak Jawana (2010), sharing screen space with Gurdas Maan.

 

In 2017, she expanded her creative scope by directing and starring in the short film Heer Unstoppable, which earned her the Best Director award at PCIFF. That year, she also appeared in Where Has the Time Gone (Mumbai Mist).

 

Alongside films, Jonita Doda has been a prominent face in advertising, featuring in campaigns for brands such as Amul Cheese and Kalaniketan, among others.

 

 

Television

In 2022, Doda appeared as a celebrity judge on the reality television show Miss PTC Punjabi, a long-running beauty pageant, further strengthening her presence in Punjabi entertainment.
