Biography
Jon Spaihts is an American screenwriter and author, born on February 4, 1970, in New York City. He is best known for co-writing Denis Villeneuve's Dune (2021) and its sequel Dune: Part Two (2024), both based on Frank Herbert's seminal science fiction novel. His work on Dune earned him a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay.
Spaihts began his career with the science fiction romance Passengers (2016), which was included in the 2007 Black List of unproduced high-value screenplays. He also wrote the screenplay for Ridley Scott's Prometheus (2012), a prequel to the Alien franchise, and co-wrote Marvel's Doctor Strange (2016). In addition to his film work, Spaihts has written several books for The Princeton Review. He resides in Venice, California, and is married to actress Johanna Watts.
