Biography
Jose Prakash (1925–2012) was a prominent Indian actor and playback singer who predominantly worked in Malayalam cinema. Born on 14 April 1925 in Kottayam, Kerala, he became one of the most recognizable villains and character actors in Malayalam films.
He began his career as a singer before entering acting. During the 1950s and 1960s, he became particularly well known for portraying villainous and authoritative characters, including police officers, landlords, and other powerful figures.
Jose Prakash appeared in hundreds of films during a career spanning several decades. Some of his notable films include Bhargavi Nilayam, Odayil Ninnu, Anweshichu Kandethiyilla, Udayon and Twenty:20. He continued acting in supporting and character roles even in his later years.
He received the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actor for his performance in Theerthadanam (2001). He was also honored with the J. C. Daniel Award for his contribution to Malayalam cinema.
Jose Prakash died on 24 March 2012 in Kochi at the age of 86. He is remembered as one of the defining villains and character actors of Malayalam cinema's golden era.
