Jung Ji In
Biography
Jung Ji-in is a South Korean television director known for her work on historical dramas, romance series, and character-driven television productions.
She began her directing career working on Korean television dramas and gained recognition through Rosy Lovers (2014–2015), a family romance series starring Lee Jang-woo and Lee Mi-sook.
Jung later directed the acclaimed historical romance The Red Sleeve (2021), starring Lee Jun-ho and Lee Se-young. Set during the Joseon Dynasty, the series follows King Jeongjo and his relationship with court lady Seong Deok-im. The drama became a major success and received numerous awards, including the Best Drama award at the 58th Baeksang Arts Awards.
In Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born (2024), Jung Ji-in directed a period drama set in post-war Korea. The series follows Yoon Jeong-nyeon, a naturally gifted singer who joins a women's traditional theater troupe and pursues her dream of becoming a celebrated performer.
Her work demonstrates an ability to handle both historical settings and emotionally detailed character stories, with particular strength in romance, family relationships, ambition, and women's experiences. Through productions such as The Red Sleeve and Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born, Jung Ji-in has established herself as a notable director in contemporary Korean television.
