Kamaljit Singh, known for his contributions to the Punjabi film industry and theatre, was born on April 17 in the village of Datte Wal, Moga district, Punjab, India. He hails from a Sikh family, with his father, Gurdial Singh, and mother, Kartar Kaur, playing significant roles in shaping his early life. Kamaljit grew up surrounded by the rich cultural fabric of Punjab, which fostered his deep appreciation for the arts.

 

Theatre Career
Kamaljit's passion for performance began in the early 1990s. His journey into the world of acting and direction started on the stage, where he became a prominent figure in Punjabi theatre. He performed in nearly 50 plays, gaining extensive experience that would later inform his work in films. His time in the theatre scene provided him with a solid foundation in acting, direction, and storytelling, all of which he would apply to his later work in cinema.

 

Film Career
Kamaljit Singh's entry into the Punjabi film industry came in 2011 when he made his debut as an Assistant Director with the Punjabi feature film Nehle Te Dehla. This film, directed by Harpreet Singh Mathroo, marked the beginning of his long-standing association with the Punjabi film industry. As an Assistant Director, Kamaljit worked on several other projects, contributing to films such as Kande, Jaan To Pyara, and the upcoming Barefoot Warriors. His collaboration with established directors, including Kavi Raj and Harpreet Singh Mathroo, gave him valuable experience that helped him hone his craft behind the scenes.
