Biography
Karan (born 19 August 1967) is an Indian actor who predominantly appeared in Tamil and Malayalam films. He began his career as a child actor under the stage name Master Raghu, featuring in over 70 films across both industries. In the 1990s, Karan transitioned to adult roles, taking on both lead and villain characters. After a brief hiatus in the mid-2000s, he focused on lead roles, gaining recognition with the success of Kokki (2006).
Career
Karan made his Tamil debut as an adult in Annaamalai (1992) alongside Rajinikanth in an uncredited role, but his breakthrough came with Nammavar (1994), where he played a rebellious college student opposite Kamal Haasan.
In 2004, Karan became a solo lead with the Malayalam film Isra. He continued to appear in notable films such as Kokki (2006), Karuppusamy Kuththagaithaarar (2007), and Kathavarayan (2008). Later works include Sooran (2014) and Uchathula Shiva (2016).
In 2018, a scene from his film Coimbatore Mappillai went viral online, leading internet users to associate the term “Shroov” with Karan, further boosting his presence in popular culture.
