Kathryn Ann Sackhoff, widely known as Katee Sackhoff, was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. She is the daughter of Dennis Sackhoff, a land developer, and Mary Sackhoff, who worked as a program coordinator. Katee grew up alongside her brother, Erick Sackhoff, in a supportive family environment.
From an early age, Sackhoff showed a keen interest in athletic pursuits, especially swimming. However, a knee injury during her teenage years forced her to shift her focus. It was during this time that she discovered her passion for acting. Katee later attended Sunset High School in Beaverton, Oregon, where her interest in drama flourished. After graduating, she pursued a career in the entertainment industry, moving to Los Angeles to make her mark.

Katee Sackhoff gained international fame for her role as Kara "Starbuck" Thrace in the critically acclaimed sci-fi series Battlestar Galactica (2004–2009).
