Kate Purdy
Biography
Kate Purdy is an American television writer and producer known for her work on animated and comedy series. She began her television writing career in the 2000s, contributing to shows such as Mad TV and Cold Case, before working on Cougar Town, Enlisted, and The McCarthys.
Purdy became widely recognized for her work on the acclaimed animated series BoJack Horseman, where she served as a writer and producer. She wrote several episodes of the series, including the highly regarded “Time’s Arrow,” for which she received the Writers Guild of America Award for Television: Animation.
She later co-created Undone with Raphael Bob-Waksberg. The Amazon Prime Video animated series follows Alma, a woman who develops a mysterious relationship with time after surviving a nearly fatal car accident and uses her newfound abilities to investigate the circumstances surrounding her father’s death. Purdy served as a co-creator, writer, and executive producer on the series.
Purdy's work is known for combining unconventional storytelling with themes involving family, identity, reality, memory, and human relationships. Through BoJack Horseman and Undone, she has established herself as an influential writer and producer in contemporary adult animation.
