Keanu Charles Reeves was born on September 2, 1964, in Beirut, Lebanon. His father, Samuel Nowlin Reeves Jr., was of Hawaiian and Chinese descent, and his mother, Patricia Taylor, was an English-born costume designer. Reeves’ name means “cool breeze over the mountains” in Hawaiian.
When Reeves was young, his parents separated, and he moved with his mother to Toronto, Canada, where he spent much of his childhood.
