Keith Gordon is an American actor, director, and writer known for his work in film and television. He began his career as a child actor before establishing himself as a filmmaker, directing films and television episodes across drama, comedy, and thriller genres.
Early Life
Keith Gordon was born on February 3, 1961, in New York City, USA. He became interested in acting at a young age and began appearing professionally while still a child.
Acting Career
Gordon gained early recognition through films such as Jaws 2 (1978), All That Jazz (1979), and Christine (1983). In Christine, directed by John Carpenter, he played Arnie Cunningham, a high school student who becomes obsessed with a mysterious and murderous automobile.
He later appeared in films including Back to School (1986), A Midnight Clear (1992), and Mother Night (1996). His role as Jason Melon in Back to School placed him opposite Rodney Dangerfield and Sally Kellerman.
Directing Career
Gordon eventually shifted much of his attention toward directing. His directorial debut was A Midnight Clear (1992), a World War II drama based on William Wharton's novel. He followed it with films such as Mother Night (1996), The Chocolate War (1988), Waking the Dead (2000), and The Singing Detective (2003).
He also became a prolific television director, working on acclaimed series including Dexter, House, The Leftovers, Fargo, Better Call Saul, The Americans, Ray Donovan, Billions, and The Good Fight.
