Kengo Kôra
Biography
Kengo Kōra was born on 12 November 1987 in Kumamoto, Japan. He is a Japanese actor and director who began his acting career in the mid-2000s. He has built a diverse filmography, appearing in both independent films and major Japanese productions.
Kōra gained recognition through films such as Snakes and Earrings (2008), Norwegian Wood (2010), A Tale of Samurai Cooking (2013), The Mourner (2015), Shin Godzilla (2016), and Shoplifters (2018). His performance in The Mourner and Being Good earned him Best Actor recognition at the Nikkan Sports Film Awards in 2015.
He also appeared in television productions including Love That Makes You Cry (2016), Reach Beyond the Blue Sky (2021), and Netflix's House of Ninjas (2024). In House of Ninjas, he portrays Gaku Tawara, the eldest son of the Tawara family and a former ninja whose death plays an important role in the family's story.
With more than a hundred acting credits, Kōra has established himself as a versatile performer in Japanese cinema and television, while also exploring directing and other creative roles.
