Kim Da Mi
Biography
Kim Da-mi is a South Korean actress, born on April 9, 1995, in South Korea. She studied theater at Incheon National University and gained early experience through stage performances and independent films before making her commercial film debut.
Her breakthrough came with The Witch: Part 1. The Subversion (2018), directed by Park Hoon-jung. She was selected from approximately 1,500 candidates to play Koo Ja-yoon, a seemingly ordinary teenager with a mysterious past and extraordinary abilities. Her intense performance earned her several Best New Actress awards, including honors at the Blue Dragon Film Awards and Daejong Film Awards.
Kim made her television breakthrough with Itaewon Class (2020), portraying Jo Yi-seo, an intelligent, ambitious, and unconventional young woman who becomes involved in Park Sae-ro-yi's business venture. Her performance earned her the Best New Actress award at the 56th Baeksang Arts Awards.
She followed this with the romantic drama Our Beloved Summer (2021–2022), in which she starred opposite Choi Woo-shik as Kook Yeon-su. The series explored the complicated relationship between former lovers who reunite years after filming a high school documentary together.
Her film credits include The Witch: Part 2. The Other One (2022), Soulmate (2023), and The Great Flood (2025). In Soulmate, she played Ahn Mi-so, while The Great Flood cast her as Gu An-na in a science-fiction disaster story.
In Nine Puzzles (2025), Kim played Yoon E-na, a criminal profiler whose life is connected to an unsolved murder from her childhood. When new murder victims are discovered with puzzle pieces similar to the one found beside her murdered uncle ten years earlier, she joins detective Kim Han-saem in investigating the mysterious killings.
Kim Da-mi has become known for choosing distinctive and challenging characters across action, thriller, romance, mystery, drama, and science fiction. Her ability to portray both emotionally restrained characters and intense, unpredictable personalities has established her as one of the notable actresses of her generation.
