Kim Kan Bi
Biography
Kim Kan-bi, also known as Carnby Kim, is a South Korean webtoon writer best known for creating dark thriller and horror stories. He made his debut in 2007 through the webtoon creative group Team Get Name and initially worked on titles such as Professor Doll, A Superior Day, and Meloholic.
He later established himself primarily as a story writer with works including Bastard, City of the Dead Sorcerer, Unknown Code, Sweet Home, Shotgun Boy, and Pigpen.
His most internationally recognized work is Sweet Home, created with artist Hwang Young-chan. The webtoon ran from 2017 to 2020 and became the source material for Netflix's Korean horror series Sweet Home (2020). The original webtoon follows a troubled teenager and apartment residents as humanity undergoes a terrifying transformation into monsters.
Kim also created Pigpen, illustrated by Cheon Beom-sik. The completed webtoon follows a man stranded on a deserted island who encounters a mysterious family. Its screen adaptation is listed as Pigpen (2026).
His storytelling is particularly known for combining horror, psychological suspense, mystery, and dark human drama, often exploring fear, desire, violence, and the darker aspects of human nature.
