Kim Roi Ha

Biography

Kim Roi-ha is a South Korean actor, born on November 15, 1965, in Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. He studied ceramics at Dankook University before pursuing a career in acting. He has been active in film, television, and theater since the 1990s.

Kim gained widespread recognition for his role as Detective Cho Yong-koo in Bong Joon-ho's acclaimed crime thriller Memories of Murder (2003). He later appeared as a gangster in A Bittersweet Life (2005) and took roles in films including The Host (2006), Dachimawa Lee (2008), A Little Pond (2010), Doomsday Book (2012), Monster (2014), and Default (2018).

His television work includes The Princess' Man (2011), Jeon Woo-chi (2012–2013), The King's Daughter, Soo Baek-hyang (2013–2014), Voice (2017), Whisper (2017), The Road: The Tragedy of One (2021), and Crime Puzzle (2021).

Kim has also worked extensively in streaming productions. His credits include Kingdom: Ashin of the North (2021), Connect (2022), and Big Bet (2022). His performances have often focused on intense, authoritative, and morally complex characters.

Beyond screen acting, Kim Roi-ha has maintained a strong connection with theater. He won the Best Actor award at the 2001 Dong-A Theatre Awards for his portrayal of King Yeonsangun in the stage play Yi, a role he later reprised in 2010.
