Biography

Kim Sung-ryung, born on February 8, 1967, in Seoul, South Korea, is a celebrated actress and former beauty pageant titleholder. She was crowned Miss Korea in 1988 and subsequently represented her country at the 1989 Miss Universe pageant.   

 

 

Kim's career began as a reporter for KBS's "Entertainment Weekly." In 1991, she made her acting debut in the film "Who Saw the Dragon's Claws?", which earned her several Best New Actress awards. While she gained initial recognition in film, she became more active in television in the following decade.   

 

 

Throughout her career, Kim Sung-ryung has showcased her versatility in numerous television dramas, including "You're Beautiful" (2009), "The Chaser" (2012), "Yawang" (2013), "The Heirs" (2013), and "Flower of Queen" (2015). More recently, she starred in series like "Are You Human Too?" (2018), "Kill Heel" (2022), and "Love to Hate You" (2023).   

 

 

She has also maintained a presence in film, with notable roles in "Shadows in the Palace" (2007), "The Client" (2011), "The Fatal Encounter" (2014), "The Target" (2014), and the thriller "The Call" (2020).   

 

 

Kim Sung-ryung has received several accolades throughout her career, including Best New Actress awards at the Baeksang Arts Awards and Grand Bell Awards for "Who Saw the Dragon's Claws?". She has also won Excellence Awards at the SBS Drama Awards for "The Chaser" and "The Heirs," and a Top Excellence Award at the APAN Star Awards for "Political Fever."
