Kim Dickens is an American actress known for her work in film and television, particularly in dramas, thrillers, and crime series. She was born on June 18, 1965, in Huntsville, Alabama.
Career
Dickens developed an interest in acting while studying at Vanderbilt University and later attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York. She began her professional career in theater before moving into film and television.
Her early film appearances included Palookaville (1995), Great Expectations (1998), and Mercury Rising (1998). In Mercury Rising, she appeared alongside Bruce Willis in the story of an FBI agent protecting an autistic boy targeted by the NSA.
Dickens went on to appear in films such as House of Sand and Fog (2003), Thank You for Smoking (2005), Gone Girl (2014), and Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children (2016).
Television Career
Dickens has had an especially successful television career. She starred as Detective Joanie Stubbs in the acclaimed Western series Deadwood (2004–2006) and later appeared in Treme (2010–2013).
She became widely known for playing Madison Clark in Fear the Walking Dead, a role she played from 2015 onward, with a return to the series in its later seasons. She has also appeared in House of Cards, Sons of Anarchy, The Newsroom, and Friday Night Lights.
