Biography
Kirat Bhattal, also professionally known as Kirat or Keerath in South India, is an Indian film actress and model. Born on January 26, 1985, in Monrovia, Liberia, Kirat has made a name for herself primarily in the South Indian film industry, particularly in Tamil cinema.
Early Life and Education: Kirat's early life saw her living in various locations, including Liberia, the UK, and India, due to her family's movements. She attended the prestigious boarding school, The Lawrence School, Sanawar. Her family is of Sikh background from Chandigarh.
Career Beginnings and Modeling: Kirat's career in the entertainment industry began with modeling. She quickly gained recognition, becoming a brand ambassador and appearing in numerous TV commercials for well-known products such as Lakme, Fair and Lovely, Motorola, Airtel, Hero Honda, Kalyan Jewellers, Macleans, and TBZ. Her modeling work also included campaigns for Safi and Siyaram.
Film Career: Kirat made her acting debut in the Telugu film Dongodi Pelli. She then gained a significant breakthrough in the Tamil film industry, notably with her role in director Saran's Vattaram (2006), where she starred alongside Arya and Napoleon. This film marked her Tamil debut.
She also made her Kannada debut with the hit film Geleya (2007) opposite Prajwal Devaraj. Kirat has appeared in other Tamil films such as Santosh Subramaniam (2008), where her performance in a guest role received critical acclaim, and Durai (2008). She also starred in the Telugu film Naa Style Veru (2009). While she was confirmed for a lead role in the successful Telugu film Yamadonga, she ultimately turned it down due to other commitments.
Other Ventures: Beyond acting, Kirat has also ventured into television hosting. She hosted the travel show "Life Mein Ek Baar- When Angels Dare" with other personalities like Barbara Mori and Archana Vijaya. She also hosted two seasons of "Style and the City" on Fox Traveller and season 4 of "Nat Geo Covershot: Heritage city" on National Geographic.
