Kovai Sarala

Biography

Award-winning actress Kovai Sarala is best remembered for her comedic roles. She started her career in 1983 with the Tamil comedy Mundhanai Mudichu, and since then has worked in almost 750 movies, winning praise and accolades for her comedic performances.

Some of her award-winning performances were seen in the movies Saathi Leelavathi, Poovellam Un Vasam, and Uliyin Osai for which she won the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Comedian, winning the Nandi Award for Best Female Comedian.

Kovai was also seen in Rayalaseema Ramanna Chowdary and Ori Nee Prema Bangaram Kanu, and her performance in Muni 2: Kanchana won her the Vijay Award for Best Comedian.

Some of her recent movies include Sangili Bungili Kadhava Thorae (2017), Sathura Adi-3500 (2017), Sema (2018), Inba Twinkle Lilly (2018), and Lakshmi (2018). Her 2019 releases include Viswasam and Kanchana 3 and Abhinetri 2.
