Biography
Krishan Dhawan (1926 – 10 July 1994) was an Indian actor, director, and producer who worked extensively in Hindi cinema from the 1940s through the 1980s. Best known as a dependable character actor, he appeared in more than 300 films, portraying a wide range of supporting roles throughout his career.
Born in Punjab, British India, Dhawan began his acting career in the 1940s and soon established himself as a familiar face in Bollywood. He worked with many of the industry's leading filmmakers and actors, earning a reputation for his natural performances and versatility.
Some of his notable acting credits include Boot Polish, Do Bigha Zamin, Naya Daur, Upkar, Purab Aur Pachhim, Kranti, and Ram Teri Ganga Maili.
In addition to acting, Krishan Dhawan also directed and produced a few Hindi films, contributing to the industry both in front of and behind the camera. Over the course of his long career, he shared the screen with celebrated stars such as Dilip Kumar, Raj Kapoor, Manoj Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan, and Dharmendra.
Krishan Dhawan passed away on 10 July 1994, leaving behind a rich legacy as one of Hindi cinema's most prolific and respected character actors.
