Early Life and Background

Details about Krishnakumar Ramakumar’s early life, education, family background and date of birth have not been widely documented in reliable public sources. He began his professional journey in the Tamil film industry and gradually moved into writing and direction.

Rather than being known primarily as an actor, Ramakumar has built his career behind the camera, developing stories for both feature films and streaming productions.

Career

Ramakumar made his mark as a director with the 2023 Tamil anthology series Modern Love Chennai. He directed the episode “Kaadhal Enbadhu Kannula Heart Irukkura Emoji”, contributing to the series alongside filmmakers including Bharathiraja, Balaji Sakthivel, Thiagarajan Kumararaja, Raju Murugan and Akshay Sundher.

His feature-film directorial debut came with Oho Enthan Baby (2025), a Tamil romantic drama starring Rudra and Mithila Palkar. The film follows a filmmaker whose personal heartbreak becomes intertwined with the story he is attempting to write. Ramakumar served as director and was also involved in the writing.

The project allowed him to explore romance, emotional uncertainty and the relationship between real life and filmmaking. Oho Enthan Baby also marked Rudra's acting debut and Mithila Palkar's Tamil-language debut.

G.D.N.

One of the most significant projects in Ramakumar's career is G.D.N., a biographical period drama based on the extraordinary life of Indian inventor and industrialist G.D. Naidu. Ramakumar directed the film and co-wrote the screenplay with actor R. Madhavan, who portrays Naidu.

The film dramatizes important periods in Naidu's life, including his passion for innovation and the obstacles he faced from powerful authorities. Ramakumar's research into Naidu's life focused not only on his inventions but also on the many dimensions of his personality and achievements.

The film features an ensemble cast including Madhavan, Priyamani, Jayaram, Sathyaraj, Dushara Vijayan, Thambi Ramaiah, Vinay Rai and Yogi Babu. It was filmed in Coimbatore, the city closely associated with Naidu's life and legacy.

Directorial Style

Ramakumar's work demonstrates an interest in character-driven storytelling. His projects range from intimate romantic drama to historical and biographical subjects, showing a willingness to work across different genres and scales.

With Modern Love Chennai and Oho Enthan Baby, he explored contemporary relationships and emotional conflicts. With G.D.N., he moved toward period storytelling and the life of an influential inventor, presenting a much broader historical canvas.
