Biography
Laura Haddock may well have found herself in a very different occupation if it weren't for a little advice from her father. Born in London in 1982, Haddock often changed her mind about what she wanted to be when she grew up until her dad suggested that perhaps what she wanted was to be an actor and pretend to be a member of any profession she wanted.
Haddock took inspiration from this advice and attended the Arts Educational School in Chiswick. She landed her first film role with a small part on an episode of the long-running sitcom "My Family" (BBC, 2000-2011) in 2007.
She played recurring roles on the series "Honest" (ITV, 2008-09) and "Monday Monday" (ITV, 2009-2010) before landing the part of Alison in "The Inbetweeners Movie" (2011). This led to a six-episode arc on "Upstairs Downstairs" (BBC, 2010-12) and eventually, a starring role in the historical series "Da Vinci's Demons" (BBC, 2013-15).
The show's Transatlantic appeal no doubt helped Haddock make the jump to the American screen as she took a small but pivotal role as the mother of Peter Quill in the Marvel smash hit "Guardians of the Galaxy" (2014). She would reprise the role for the movie's sequel before taking on an even bigger role in another tent-pole actioner, this time co-starring in "Transformers: The Last Knight" (2017).
