Laura Linney, born on February 5, 1964, is an accomplished American actress with a career spanning film, television, and theatre.   

 

 

Early Life and Education: Born in New York City into a theatrical family (her father was playwright Romulus Linney), she graduated from Brown University in 1986 and later studied acting at the Juilliard School.   

 

 

Career Highlights: Linney made her Broadway debut in 1992 in "Six Degrees of Separation." Her stage work has earned her five Tony Award nominations for plays including "The Crucible," "Sight Unseen," "Time Stands Still," "My Name Is Lucy Barton," and "The Little Foxes."   

 

 

Her film career began with minor roles in the early 1990s, gaining prominence in the mid-90s with "Primal Fear." She has received three Academy Award nominations for her leading roles in "You Can Count on Me" (2000) and "The Savages" (2007), and for her supporting role in "Kinsey" (2004). Other notable film credits include "The Truman Show," "Mystic River," and "Love Actually."   

 

 

In television, Linney has achieved significant acclaim. She won four Primetime Emmy Awards for her work in "Wild Iris," "Frasier," "John Adams," and "The Big C."
