Laurie Nunn
Biography
Laurie Nunn was born in May 1986 in London, England. She is an English screenwriter, playwright, and producer who is best known for creating the Netflix comedy-drama series Sex Education (2019–2023).
Nunn grew up in Victoria, Australia, and studied film and television at the Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne. She later completed a master's degree in screenwriting at the National Film and Television School in the UK.
Her breakthrough came with Sex Education, her first television series. She created and wrote the show, which follows teenagers dealing with relationships, sexuality, friendship, and growing up. Nunn also served as an executive producer and showrunner on the series.
Before Sex Education, Nunn wrote projects including the short films Gone to Earth (2007) and Radiance (2013), as well as the play King Brown, which was shortlisted for the 2017 Bruntwood Prize for Playwriting.
Through Sex Education, Nunn became an award-winning writer and one of the prominent creators of contemporary British television.
