Leela Naidu (1940 – 28 July 2009) was an Indian actress and model who appeared in a small number of Hindi films but earned lasting acclaim for her elegance, natural acting, and striking beauty. She was frequently listed among the world's most beautiful women during the 1950s and 1960s and remains a respected figure in Indian cinema.

 

 

Early Life

Leela Naidu was born in 1940 in Mumbai (then Bombay), India. Her father, Dr. Pattipati Ramaiya Naidu, was a renowned nuclear physicist, and her mother, Marthe Mange, was of Swiss-French origin. She received an international education and was known for her refined upbringing.

In 1954, she won the Femina Miss India title, which brought her widespread recognition and paved the way for her acting career.

 

 

Career

Leela Naidu made her film debut in Anuradha (1960), directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee. Her understated and graceful performance received widespread praise, and the film is regarded as a classic of Hindi cinema.

Leela Naidu passed away on 28 July 2009 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, at the age of 69, following a prolonged illness.
