Leena Chandavarkar (born 29 August 1950) is a former Indian actress who was one of the popular leading ladies of Hindi cinema during the late 1960s and 1970s. Known for her beauty, graceful screen presence, and natural acting style, she appeared opposite many of Bollywood's biggest stars, including Rajesh Khanna, Dharmendra, Jeetendra, Sanjeev Kumar, and Vinod Khanna.

 

 

Early Life

Leena Chandavarkar was born in Dharwad, Karnataka, India, into a Konkani family. She gained public attention after winning the Miss Fresh Face beauty contest, which opened the doors to the Hindi film industry.

 

 

Film Career

Leena made her acting debut with Man Ka Meet (1969), produced by Sunil Dutt. The film introduced Vinod Khanna as a villain and established Leena as a promising newcomer.

Leena Chandavarkar's personal life attracted considerable public attention. Her first husband, Siddharth Bandodkar, son of Goa's first Chief Minister Dayanand Bandodkar, died in an accidental shooting shortly after their marriage.

 

In 1980, she married superstar Rajesh Khanna. The couple had a son, Akshay Khanna (not to be confused with actor Akshaye Khanna). They remained married until Rajesh Khanna died in 2012.
