Lillete Dubey

Biography

Lillete Dubey is a renowned and award-winning Indian film, television, and stage actor, as well as a theatre director. She has been the Artistic Director of her own Theatre Company, The Primetime Theatre Company, for over 32 years, and her theatrical work has traveled all over the globe, garnering much acclaim. She has directed 34 plays for the company so far.

She has pioneered the platforming of original Indian writing in English, showcasing the work of some of India`s most outstanding playwrights. Her award-winning production `Dance Like a Man` has completed 670 shows worldwide and holds the record as the longest-running Indian English play.

Ms. Dubey has performed in over 70 films and TV shows, both nationally and internationally. Some notable works include `Monsoon Wedding,` `Gadar,` `Baghban,` `Zubeida,` `The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel 1 & 2,` `Indian Summers` (Channel 4 UK), and many others. 

 

She has also acted in over 50 plays, ranging from Brecht to Shakespeare. She has won multiple Best Actress awards for her work in plays and films at National and International Festivals.

Additionally, she has served as a jury member for several theatre and film competitions, and she is part of the Expert Committee for Theatre for the Culture Ministry. 

 

She has curated the theatre section of the Serendipity Arts Festival in Goa and is a trustee of Ms. Protima Bedi`s dance village, Nrityagram, located outside Bangalore.
