Biography

LOUISE HOOPER is a brilliant, original storyteller. A highly visual, innovative, and wildly imaginative International drama director, curating beautifully crafted films with infectious energy and ease on set.

Louise is currently the lead director on Matt Charman's (BRIDGE OF SPIES) contemporary thriller TREASON for Netflix. Streaming now - Louise's directed the finale of Neil Gaiman's SANDMAN for Warner Bros / Netflix to glowing reviews. Also this year we saw two of her gloriously surreal episodes of INSIDE NUMBER 9 for BBC Comedy. Before that she directed on the Netflix hit, THE WITCHER.

Best known for the 4 part limited series FLESH & BLOOD starring Academy nominees Imelda Staunton and Stephen Rae, Russell Tovey, and Francesca Annis, that TX Feb 2020 to rave reviews. Huge viewing figures & 90% on Rotten Tomatoes. 

 

Before that Louise directed CHEAT, the acclaimed 4 part thriller starring BAFTA leading actress Molly Windsor. With over 7 million viewers and 89% on Rotten Tomatoes. In 2020 as Covid began, Louise directed Jeff Pope's ISOLATION STORIES.

BAFTA nominated for OUR GAY WEDDING: THE MUSICAL. Louise has had the pleasure of working with Jimmy Nesbitt in COLD FEET, and Brenda Blethyn in VERA, and was the first woman to direct STAN LEE'S LUCKY MAN. 

 

She has also worked with Tilda Swinton, Sigourney Weaver, Gwyneth Paltrow, Christian Slater, Samuel Barnett, Joanna Lumley, Dennis Hopper, Jonathan Pryce, Alan Davies, James Fox, David Harewood, Kate Moss and Griff Rhys Jones.

Louise began her career directing BBC Arts documentaries, working with David Lynch, Helmut Newton, Arthur Miller, David Attenborough, and Björk.
