Louis Leterrier

Biography

Though Parisian director Louis Leterrier has only been making motion pictures for less than a decade, each production has been an action-packed blockbuster hit. He grew up in a film-oriented family with a director father and a costume designer mother. After studying film at the prestigious Tisch School of the Arts at NYU, Leterrier returned to his homeland and became a production assistant for "Alien Resurrection." 

 

After completing various production roles on movie sets, Leterrier's directorial debut was "The Transporter," starring Jason Statham as a malicious French mercenary. The action movie was a European blockbuster sensation and sparked two additional sequels. His next career move was directing Jet Li in the martial arts thriller "Unleashed," also starring Morgan Freeman. 

 

The fast-paced picture was welcomed with positive reviews worldwide. After a brief hiatus, Leterrier entered American cinema by directing his first comic book blockbuster "The Incredible Hulk." The movie was a commercial triumph and affirmed Leterrier as a reputable director for the action genre. "

 

Clash of the Titans" in 2010 earned over $490 million in box office revenue and was Leterrier's first taste in the fantasy genre. Though the film received mixed reviews from critics, it helped him become an established filmmaker for American audiences.
