Ludovico Bessegato
Biography
Ludovico Bessegato, born on September 22, 1983, in Milan, Italy, is an Italian director, screenwriter, producer, and showrunner. He studied Contemporary History before graduating in directing from the Civica Scuola di Cinema di Milano. From 2010 to 2017, he worked as a creative director at Magnolia Fiction, later known as Cross Productions.
Bessegato began his directing career with web projects, including Kubrick – Una storia porno (2012) and Le cose brutte (2013). He later worked as a creative producer on acclaimed television series such as Rocco Schiavone, Il Cacciatore (The Hunter), and Una grande famiglia.
He became widely recognized as the creator, writer, director, and showrunner of SKAM Italia (2018–2024), the successful Italian adaptation of the Norwegian teen drama SKAM. The series became known for its realistic portrayal of adolescence and contemporary social issues.
Bessegato later co-created and directed Prisma (2022–2024) with Alice Urciuolo. The coming-of-age series follows teenage twins Andrea and Marco and explores identity, sexuality, relationships, and the challenges of finding one's place in the world.
