Biography

Maja Schöne, born in Stuttgart, Germany, in 1976, is an accomplished German actress. After completing a stage and director's internship following high school, she pursued her passion for acting by studying at the Westphalian Drama School in Bochum, graduating in 2001.   

 

 

Her career began on stage, with an engagement at the Deutsches Schauspielhaus in Hamburg in February 2001, where she appeared in plays by Friedrich Schiller. She later worked at Schauspiel Köln and the Thalia Theater in Hamburg, earning recognition and awards for her theatrical performances, including the award for Best Actress at the Theater Festival NRW for her role as Brunhild in "Die Nibelungen."   

 

 

Schöne transitioned to screen acting, making her cinema debut in the 2004 film "Cowgirl," which garnered her a nomination for the Undine Award. She appeared in various German television series and films, including "Buddenbrooks," "Summertime Blues," and "The Fire," for which she won the German Actor Award for Best Actress in 2011 for her portrayal of a rape victim seeking retribution. She also had recurring roles in the popular German crime series "Tatort" between 2008 and 2015, playing the wife of one of the investigators.   

 

 

Internationally, Maja Schöne gained significant recognition for her role as Hannah Kahnwald in the critically acclaimed Netflix science fiction thriller series Dark (2017-2020). Her compelling portrayal of a complex and pivotal character contributed to the show's global success.   

 

 

More recently, in 2024, she appeared in the TV series "Helgoland 513." Throughout her career, Maja Schöne has proven to be a versatile actress with a strong presence in German and international productions, earning accolades for her work on stage and screen.
