Marc Benardout

Biography

Marc Benardout is a British film director and producer known for his work in feature films, shorts, commercials, and music videos. He comes from a family with notable artistic lineage, being a distant relative of American composer Irving Berlin and French science fiction writer Jules Verne.

 

 

Biography

Benardout began his career in the film industry working for acclaimed director Adrian Lyne (Fatal Attraction, 9½ Weeks) at Lyne’s production company, Jennie & Co. There, he managed productions for commercial directors including John Lloyd (Blackadder). After gaining experience behind the scenes, he transitioned into directing, eventually creating over 200 commercials and music videos in London and Amsterdam.

 

 

Career

In 1995, Benardout directed the short film A Little Worm, which focused on harmonica virtuoso Larry Adler. The film won awards for Best Cinematography and Best Film at the Barcelona Film Festival and was distributed theatrically by Buena Vista International alongside Ed Wood. It also aired on BBC Four as part of the series The Shooting Gallery.

 

 

Benardout made his feature film directing debut with Sinner (2007), starring Nick Chinlund and Georgina Cates. The film earned critical acclaim, winning Best Feature Film at the Buffalo Niagara Film Festival, and was selected for several other festivals, including Vail, Newport Beach, Garden State, Brooklyn Arts Council, and Boston International Film Festivals.

Currently, Benardout is producing a film adaptation of Neil Shusterman's novel Unwind, continuing his focus on compelling and thought-provoking storytelling.
