Biography

Margot Elise Robbie, born on July 2, 1990, in Dalby, Queensland, Australia, is an internationally acclaimed actress and producer. Growing up on a farm in the Australian outback, Robbie's early life was far from the glitz and glamour of Hollywood. She was raised by her single mother, Sarie Kessler, a physiotherapist, and her father, Doug Robbie, a farm owner. Despite the quiet country life, Robbie harbored a deep passion for acting from a young age, which ultimately led her to pursue a career in entertainment.

After completing high school, Robbie moved to Melbourne to study at the prestigious NIDA (National Institute of Dramatic Art) and began taking on various television and film roles in her early twenties. With a combination of talent, determination, and striking beauty, it wasn’t long before Robbie captured the attention of casting agents and began her rise to stardom.

Career

Margot Robbie’s breakout role came in 2013 when she starred opposite Leonardo DiCaprio in Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf of Wall Street. Playing the role of Naomi Lapaglia, the wife of DiCaprio’s character, Robbie made an unforgettable impression on audiences and critics alike, showcasing her sharp wit and undeniable screen presence. This role catapulted her into the Hollywood spotlight and earned her recognition as one of the most promising young actresses of her generation.

Following The Wolf of Wall Street, Robbie quickly established herself as a versatile actress, taking on a wide range of roles in both independent films and big-budget productions. She starred in Focus (2015) alongside Will Smith, further proving her ability to balance both comedy and drama. Later that year, Robbie starred in Z for Zachariah, a post-apocalyptic drama that showcased her depth as an actress.

However, it was her portrayal of Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad (2016) that became one of her most iconic roles. With her manic energy and captivating performance, Robbie made the character of Harley Quinn her own, becoming a fan favorite and reuniting with the character in Birds of Prey (2020) and the highly anticipated The Suicide Squad (2021).

As her career continued to soar, Robbie also began taking on producing roles. In 2017, she co-founded the production company LuckyChap Entertainment with her husband, Tom Ackerley. The company focuses on producing female-led films and empowering women in the industry. Through LuckyChap, Robbie produced I, Tonya (2017), where she portrayed disgraced figure skater Tonya Harding. Her performance earned her critical acclaim and an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress.

Her dedication to diverse roles continued with Mary Queen of Scots (2018), where she portrayed Queen Elizabeth I, and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (2019), directed by Quentin Tarantino. In the latter, Robbie played the role of Sharon Tate, which earned her numerous accolades and nominations, solidifying her place as one of Hollywood’s leading actresses.
