Marin Hinkle

Biography

Marin Hinkle is an American actress, born on March 23, 1966, in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Her family moved to Boston when she was an infant. She initially dreamed of becoming a ballerina, but an ankle injury ended her dance ambitions at age 16, after which she turned her attention to acting. She studied at Brown University and earned a Master of Fine Arts from New York University.

Hinkle began her professional career in theatre before moving into television and film. She gained wider recognition as Judy Brooks in the drama series Once and Again (1999–2002). She later became widely known for playing Judith Harper-Melnick in the popular sitcom Two and a Half Men (2003–2015).

Her most acclaimed recent role is Rose Weissman in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (2017–2023). Her performance earned her two Primetime Emmy nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, in addition to ensemble awards with the cast.

Hinkle has also appeared in films such as I Am Sam (2001), Frequency (2000), Rails & Ties (2007), Quarantine (2008), The Haunting of Molly Hartley (2008), and Jumanji: The Next Level (2019). Her later television work includes Homeland, Madam Secretary, Grey's Anatomy, The Company You Keep, We Were the Lucky Ones, Good American Family, and St. Denis Medical.
