Mark Tonderai
Biography
Mark Tonderai is a British-Zimbabwean director, writer, producer, and former radio presenter, born on 16 July 1974 in London, England. He began his career in radio, working as a writer, producer, and presenter for BBC Radio 1 before moving into film and television.
Tonderai made his feature directing and writing debut with the psychological thriller Hush (2008), which received a British Independent Film Award nomination. He followed it with House at the End of the Street (2012), starring Jennifer Lawrence, Elisabeth Shue, and Max Thieriot.
He later became a prolific television director, working on series such as The Five, Gotham, Lucifer, Black Lightning, Nightflyers, Castle Rock, Doctor Who, Locke & Key, Big Sky, and The Mysterious Benedict Society.
His other film work includes Spell (2020), a supernatural thriller starring Omari Hardwick and Loretta Devine. Tonderai has developed a reputation for directing suspenseful, atmospheric stories across horror, thriller, science fiction, and fantasy.
