Martha Higareda
Biography
Martha Higareda is a Mexican actress, screenwriter, and producer, born on 24 August 1983 in Villahermosa, Tabasco, Mexico. She began performing at a young age and moved to Mexico City at 14 to pursue acting. She initially studied communications before switching to performing arts.
Higareda gained her breakthrough with the romantic drama Amar te duele (2002), which became a major success in Mexico and earned her the MTV Movie Award for Favorite Actress. She subsequently appeared in films including Siete días, Niñas Mal, Hasta el viento tiene miedo, and Street Kings.
She expanded into writing and producing, working on projects such as Te presento a Laura (2010), Get Married If You Can (2014), No Manches Frida (2016), and 3 Idiots (2017).
Higareda gained international recognition as Detective Kristin Ortega in Netflix's science-fiction series Altered Carbon (2018). She later appeared in Into the Dark, Monarch, and Queens on the Run.
Alongside her acting career, Higareda has continued working as a writer and producer, becoming one of the prominent Mexican performers to establish a career in both Mexican and American entertainment.
