Biography
Masaki Nishiura is a Japanese director known for his work in film and television. He has directed a variety of Japanese productions, including God, Please Give Me More Time (1998), The Days (2023), and Private Banker (2025).
Nishiura gained recognition through his work on television dramas and later became known for directing projects that combine human drama with suspense and real-world events. He served as one of the directors of Netflix’s The Days (2023), alongside Hideo Nakata. The eight-episode series dramatizes the seven days surrounding the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster following the 2011 earthquake and tsunami.
He directed multiple episodes of The Days, including the opening episode and several later installments that portray the escalating crisis at the Fukushima Daiichi plant and the difficult decisions faced by its workers and government officials.
