Dillon quickly gained recognition for his roles in films like "My Bodyguard" (1980), "Little Darlings" (1980), and the S.E. Hinton adaptations "Tex" (1982), "The Outsiders" (1983), and "Rumble Fish" (1983). These early roles established him as a teen idol.
