Biography

Maxwell Patrick O'Dowd, popularly known as Max O'Dowd, was born on March 4, 1994, in Auckland, New Zealand. Despite being born in New Zealand, O'Dowd represents the Netherlands in international cricket, owing to his Dutch heritage through his father. 

Cricket was a strong influence in his life from a young age, particularly due to his father, Alex O'Dowd, who also played domestic cricket in New Zealand and later coached in the Netherlands. This exposure to cricket in both countries shaped Max’s approach and provided him with a strong foundation in the sport.

Growing up, O'Dowd was active in cricket at the school and club levels in New Zealand, displaying promise as a right-handed top-order batsman. His early development was split between two cultures and cricketing styles—New Zealand’s robust domestic circuit and the growing Dutch cricket scene—allowing him to develop a well-rounded game.

Domestic and Early Career
Max O'Dowd began playing competitive cricket in the Netherlands while also being part of the development pathways in New Zealand. His performances in club cricket and age-group tournaments caught attention due to his fluent strokeplay and aggressive approach at the crease.
