Mayyur Girotra

Biography

Mayyur Girotra is an Indian fashion designer and couturier, who lives between Delhi and New York known for his bridal wear. In 2009, he founded his own Mayyur Girotra label.

Girotra was born and raised in Delhi, the capital city of India, to a Punjabi family. He obtained his degree from Thames Valley University. While he initially aspired to become a fashion designer during his childhood, his parents urged him to pursue a career in business or finance. 

Despite working as a wealth manager in Dubai, he eventually left his job and established his own design house in 2009, which includes two sub-brands: luxury prêt and couture.

Girotra opened his first store in New Delhi and later expanded to Dubai and Mumbai in April 2014.

He also established stores in New York, New Jersey, and San Francisco within the United States.

His work has been worn by many celebrities including Sara Ali Khan, Sridevi, Deepika Padukone, Jacqueline Fernandez, Shilpa Shetty, Alia Bhatt, Sonam Kapoor, Virat Kohli, and Badshah, among others.

Girotra participated in several fashion shows and events, both domestically and internationally, which included appearances at Lakmé Fashion Week Summer Resort 2014, and Dubai Fashion Week. 

He was commissioned by Maharaja Narendra Singh, the son-in-law of the late H H Maharaja Bhawani Singh of Jaipur, to revamp the uniforms of the Royal Polo Team of India and to design casual wear for the players.

Mayyur was one of the fourteen Indian designers chosen to exhibit their creations at the inaugural French European Indian Fashion Week (FEIFW) held in 2016. 

The venue for this event was the Eiffel Tower in Paris, where Mayyur introduced his collection, Jaisalmer. Girotra also presented his collection, Zamani, at the inaugural South Asian New York Fashion Week (SANYFW).

In June 2023, Mayyur introduced his luxury pret collection, AIKYA, during New York Pride in collaboration with Pride at Google and Indus Google Network. AIKYA merges western silhouettes with Indian embroidery and techniques, symbolizing unity.
