Biography
Meredith Averill is an American television writer and producer, born on 20 March 1982 in Pottsville, Pennsylvania, USA. She studied screenwriting and television writing at New York University and began her career working as an assistant before moving into television writing and production.
Averill gained early experience on series such as Samurai Girl, Life on Mars, Happy Town, and The Good Wife, where she worked as a writer and producer. She later created the science-fiction drama Star-Crossed (2014) and worked as a producer on Jane the Virgin.
She became a co-showrunner and executive producer of Netflix's The Haunting of Hill House (2018), writing two episodes, including the acclaimed "The Bent-Neck Lady." Her screenplay for the episode won the 2019 Bram Stoker Award for Superior Achievement in a Screenplay.
Averill is best known for developing and serving as co-showrunner and executive producer of Netflix's Locke & Key (2020–2022), alongside Carlton Cuse and Aron Eli Coleite. She also wrote several episodes of the series, which ran for three seasons.
Her later work includes serving as an executive producer on Wednesday, further establishing her career in supernatural, fantasy, and genre television.
