Milind Swamy
Biography
Milind Swamy comes from a distinguished lineage of filmmakers, carrying forward a legacy that spans three generations in the Bollywood film industry. His grandfather served as a Production Controller from the 1950s until his passing, contributing to the foundational years of Indian cinema. His father entered the industry in 1965, starting humbly as a carpenter in the art department. Through perseverance and talent, he rose through the ranks and became an Art Director in the 1980s, a position he upheld with pride until his demise.
Continuing this creative heritage, Milind Swamy began his own journey in 1991 as an Assistant Director. Over the years, he gained experience across multiple departments, strengthening his understanding of the filmmaking process. In 2004, he transitioned into freelancing as a Director, working across genres and formats.
In 2013, Milind expanded his horizons globally by establishing GV9 Films Production in Canada. Since then, he has been actively producing and directing projects both in Canada and in Bollywood, creating a cross-cultural filmography that blends Indian narrative traditions with an international cinematic perspective.
With more than three decades of professional experience, Milind Swamy has earned recognition as a versatile, dedicated, and technically proficient filmmaker—one committed to authentic storytelling, creative innovation, and cinema that connects audiences across borders.
