Her family moved to Sugar Land, Texas, when she was five, and she later attended Houston's High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, where she received acting training. She continued her theatrical studies at Brigham Young University (BYU), and during her time there, she was awarded the Irene Ryan Award, recognizing her as a top collegiate actor in the nation.
